Information operations are a strategic military tactic to influence perceptions and behavior during peacetime and conflict. When deployed effectively, information operations can be a force multiplier that can undermine the morale and combat power of enemy forces, create a favorable image of a particular government or political faction, or convince civilians to support or resist a specific agenda or initiative.
SOSi supported the military’s large-scale information operations campaign as part of a mission to assist a foreign government’s efforts to combat extremist groups and promote stability.
SOSi provided comprehensive assistance across all seven phases of the information operations doctrine, including planning, audience analysis, medium selection, message development, material design and production, content dissemination, and feedback and evaluation. SOSi embedded 82 U.S.-cleared personnel (SECRET – TS/SCI) and 68 local nationals with a special operations joint task force. The team comprised former military strategic communications experts, operations agents, electronic warfare specialists, military deception planners, culturally attuned linguists, and audio/video media specialists. Additionally, SOSi maintained relationships with over 70 media vendors across the country, establishing active communications channels.
