Maintaining Vital Hardware & Software for the Internal Revenue Service

Keeping the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) up and running

Overview

The IRS turned to SOSi to service its mainframes, peripherals, and software at two of its largest and most significant computing centers responsible for storing IRS records and the processing tax forms.

SOSi’s hardware team and maintenance engineers worked closely with the customer to execute a service strategy that allowed for all work to be performed, while still ensuring 24x7x365 availability of these critical IRS systems. Performing the maintenance, while keeping each center running, was essential to the IRS mission.

Results

SOSi performed Tier I systems operations and maintenance to meet the IRS’s response-time, downtime, and repair-time requirements. In addition, we provided on-call/help desk maintenance support, as well as preventive and predictive maintenance, on or before the original equipment manufacturer specified intervals. While the results of our work were impressive, the fact that we successfully performed all maintenance with little to no impact on the day-to-day IRS mission is what matters most.
