Providing Language Support for U.S. Army Contingency Operations

Providing expert language services to U.S. Army forces in Iraq and Afghanistan for nearly two decades

Overview

Since 2001, SOSi has provided the U.S. Army direct simultaneous and consecutive interpretation support to forces deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. SOSi interpreters work throughout the theaters of operation, sometimes in austere conditions, to support a wide variety of military activities ranging from international conferences and criminal legal proceedings to real-world military operations and intelligence functions.

In addition to interpretation, SOSi language experts provide the cultural and ethnic context of interpretations and advise users on the cultural and ethnic significance of statements, conversations, and situations.

Results

Our robust staff of vetted, tested, cleared, and qualified linguists/analysts have assisted in integrating intelligence collected from a variety of sources to produce daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc products aimed at improving the U.S. Army’s battlefield awareness and assessing potential threats against the Iraqi and Afghan governments and Coalition forces. Additionally, many of our linguists have supported combat forces at the company level, accompanying them on kinetic missions daily.

SOSi’s long-time legacy of support for contingency operations has been recognized through numerous letters of commendation and appreciation from the U.S. military.
