SOSi Sponsors Army Ten-Miler; Hosts Shadow Race in Iraq
More than 500 Expected to Join Sunday’s ‘Taji 10-Miler’
RESTON, VA (Oct. 5, 2016) - SOS International LLC (SOSi) is one of 8 major sponsors of the 2016 Army Ten-Miler on Sunday, Oct. 9 and is hosting and organizing a race at Camp Taji, Iraq this weekend called the ‘Taji 10-Miler’. More than 500 U.S. and coalition military personnel, contractors and SOSi employees are expected to participate in the Iraq race.
Closer to home, SOSi CEO Julian Setian will lead the company’s team of runners again this year at the race held in Washington, D.C. He will also be joined by 10 military veterans from Mission Continues, a non-profit organization that empowers veterans who are adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact, deploying them to serve locally. SOSi is the corporate sponsor for the Mission Continues’ newest “platoon” based in Washington, D.C.
“We are privileged to support organizations making a positive impact in our community and on our armed forces and their families,” said Julian Setian, SOSi’s President & CEO. “I look forward to running in this year’s Army Ten-Miler with my SOSi colleagues and our Mission Continues partners. Hooah!”
“The Mission Continues is excited to join SOSi for the 2016 Army Ten-Miler,” said Mary Beth Bruggeman, Southeast Region Executive Director, The Mission Continues. “While our veterans work hard throughout the year to have lasting, generational impact in their communities, this weekend we'll bring our veterans together for a fun, memorable, and inspiring run through Washington, DC. Veterans from across the southeast region are ready to put down their work this weekend and join with SOSi to support the Army Ten Miler.”
This first annual ‘Taji 10-Miler’ will give the troops and civilians serving in Iraq a chance to join in on the Army Ten-Miler from across the globe. SOSi currently provides base life support services to thousands of U.S. and coalition soldiers stationed in Iraq in Support of Operation Inherent Resolve. SOSi’s racing team in Taji will be led by SOSi’s Vice President for Mission Solutions Group, Lieutenant General (Ret.) Frank Helmick.
“Deployments are never easy. Being separated from friends and family is something each soldier shares with one another regardless of nationality. Fitness is another common bond and that is why we planned the Taji 10-Miler Run,” said Helmick. “We look forward to providing these troops a small reminder of home this weekend as we run the Taji 10-Miler together with our battle buddies around the globe and at home in D.C. I am honored to run alongside them.”
