Dr. John Hillen, Chairman
Dr. John Hillen has served as the Executive in Residence and Professor of Practice for George Mason University’s School of Management since 2013.
For the six years prior to that he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sotera Defense Solutions, Inc. (Sotera), formerly Global Defense Technology & Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:GTEC), and a member of its Board of Directors.
From 2005 to 2007, Dr. Hillen served as the Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs in the Bush Administration. Prior to his appointment in the administration, Dr. Hillen served as the first President of Fairfax VA- based CGI Federal Inc., the cleared American subsidiary of Canadian IT firm CGI, Inc. (NYSE: GIB). Previously he was head of the $415 million defense and intelligence business at American Management Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: AMSY), which was sold to CACI International (NYSE: CAI) in 2004. Prior to that he served as Chief Operating Officer of Island ECN, Inc., a $500M+ financial services firm in New York City.
Dr. Hillen was recently selected to the “Wash100” list by GovCon Exec magazine, was listed one of the “Top Twenty People to Watch” by ExecutiveBiz magazine and was the subject of a cover story in SmartCEO magazine. He is a 2011 Federal Computer Week “Fed 100” award winner and was a finalist for the GovCon Executive of the Year award in 2009.
Dr. Hillen is a trustee of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the Foreign Policy Research Institute, Hampden-Sydney College and is on the advisory board of several other non-profits. He graduated from Duke University, holds a Master’s Degree from King’s College London, a doctorate from Oxford, and received his MBA from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell.
